My Background

What I do

My name is Sarah Smith, I am a freelance photographer and I have had a lifelong passion for photography.

I photograph weddings :

Parties - birthdays, anniversaries, funerals.

Events with optional print on the night.

Portraits - families, children, pets - studio style at your home / office or an environmental (outdoors) location of your choice.

Commercial - buildings, macro subjects like jewellery, students for prospectuses, web site photos.

Based in south west London and often in north east Kent, I am happy to travel to you, as long as my travel is covered. So if you need a versatile photographer who will tailor the day to your personal requirements then contact me.

About me

Aged 7 and going on holiday to Norway, I was given my mother's old black and white film box camera, with which to take some photos. This was just the beginning of a fascination that has gone from being a serious hobby to a career.  During my childhood I was also inspired by my aunt, who has always been a keen traveller and photographer, to pursue photography.

In my teens I moved on to my grandfather’s old Kodak colour film camera which served me well for several years.  I was given some money for my 21st birthday, with which I purchased a Pentax SLR and lenses. I had great pleasure experimenting with this camera whilst at Agricultural College. Next I moved onto a Canon EOS 300X film SLR which took great pictures, but as with everything else, you have to move along with modern technology! So I now have a professional Canon EOS digital SLR which I love for its versatility and results.

My photography

I have done various training courses but have no formal photographic qualification; however I hope that the quality of my work is of more relevance. You can judge for yourselves from the pictures in my galleries.

Growing up on a farm gave me a great love of nature and wildlife and much of my photography reflects this. However I also enjoy taking candid shots of people, particularly children. Capturing a moment in time, which will never be repeated, as an image for all to appreciate. Dramatic skies and cloud effects are also part of my obsession, so if you are a fan of these I hope you will not be disappointed.

Over the last few years I have been lucky enough to visit three continents which has provided me with plenty of scope to increase my image library stock. All the photos on this web site are my own and most are available for sale in various formats.

Only a small proportion of my work is shown here, due to the volume and variety of themes I photograph. If you have an interest in a particular area that is not covered or if you want to see more, do not hesitate to contact me.
